Elegia tectorum 'Penberth Porcupine'

This is a unique Restio, discovered as a chance seedling is a batch of Elegia tectorum seedlings here at Penberth Plants in 2018.

The beautiful cream banding occurs on the new culms giving it a 'Porcupine' like appearance. This variegated Restio is quite dwarf like compared to Elegia tectorum and will only grow up to 60cm in height and a spread of 45cm forming a compact and neat evergreen clump. As it is one of the smaller Restios it makes this an ideal choice for pots and containers as well as the front of a sunny border.

Growing well in full sun or partial shade. It prefers a well drained soil that is moisture retentive and NOT waterlogged, just moist all year around.
